Further context on the 64th Sutra from Patanjali’s Yogasutras
These afflictions being present in its subtle form, the suffering that is caused due to it comes to fruition in जाति, आयुः & भोगाः. The individual soul borrows a material form that provides it with the necessary elements of life for its existence. The yogasutras say, as long as the kleshas exist in our karma, it further ripens into the next species of lifeform the individual soul takes, the lifespan of it and the extent of pleasure and pain it will experience.
Just because an individual soul experiences more pleasure than pain in one life doesn’t indicate a forward progression of the soul, Yogasutras say it’s still suffering and it’ll continue to suffer until the soul rises above this cycle of cause and effect.
