Further context on the 67th Sutra from Patanjali’s Yogasutras
All IKS based systems, although initially seem pessimistic, are highly optimistic in their practicality. Most systems agree that there is suffering. And most pose a question to us – what can we do to end the accumulation of more suffering? This verse says, we have suffered and we have been suffering. But from here on, now that we know, let’s not add more to it. Let’s not demand our happiness from a world that’s not inherently designed for it. All karmas bear fruits. That which we are experiencing now is a culmination of our past karmas. Hence, based on our learning, that which we are yet to experience, is still in our control and can be changed by our today’s actions.
